The scholarship fund was created by family and friends in honor and memory of Brad A. Thompson. The scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Seymour High School who will be attending Purdue University.

Dr. Mary Jo Foster established the scholarship fund in memory of her husband Charles Forrest Foster. Mr. Foster was a 1941 graduate of Shields High School in Seymour, Indiana. He was a 1948 graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Thompson was a life-long resident of Jackson County who owned and operated Thompson Dairy, in Seymour. The fund was established by JoAnn Thompson in memory of her husband, James T. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was an outstanding community member in many ways and was described as "one great guy-one who comes along only once in a while." This fund was established under the Will of Elizabeth Owen to provide scholarships to residents of Jackson County attending Purdue University majoring in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. The amount of the scholarship shall be equal to tuition to a college or university located in the State of Indiana and commonly regarded as a state-supported institution.
